Privacy Policy
Effective July 2026 · AfterFeel — every feeling has a place
The short version: your journal belongs to you. Entries are
written on your device, and if you turn on cloud backup they are
encrypted on your phone before upload — we cannot read them.
We show no ads, run no trackers, and never sell data.
What we collect
- Nothing, if you use AfterFeel as a guest. Your entries,
emotions and moments stay on your device.
- Account details — if you create an account: your email
address and an app-generated username, stored with Google Firebase. Your
password is handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see or store it.
- Journal content (encrypted) — with an account and
AfterFeel Plus, your entries back up to our cloud. The words you write,
the names of people you mention, locations, and notes are sealed with
AES-256 encryption on your device before upload. The decryption
key never leaves your device (or your personal iCloud Keychain / the
backup key you save). Emotion names and timestamps are stored alongside
as unencrypted metadata so your history can be organised.
- Purchase state — whether AfterFeel Plus is unlocked,
processed by RevenueCat and Apple / Google. Payment details never touch
our systems.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no advertising SDKs.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of personal data.
- No tracking across other apps or websites.
- No reading your journal — technically impossible for us once encrypted.
On-device features
- Voice journaling uses your device's built-in
speech-to-text (microphone permission). Audio is transcribed by your
operating system and is never stored or uploaded by AfterFeel.
- Gentle notes from Sprig may fetch a short encouraging
line from an AI text service; the request contains only a single emotion
word (for example, "anxious") — never your journal text, name, or any
identifier.
Services we rely on
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore) — sign-in and
encrypted backup storage. Firebase privacy

governed by their own policies.
Your data, your controls
- Export — the Journal Book turns your entries into a PDF
you keep.
- Sign out — returns the app to a local-only guest mode.
- Delete everything — Settings → Delete account erases
your cloud data, encrypted backup, and account immediately.

Data retention
Backed-up data is kept only while your account exists. Deleting your
account removes it immediately from our systems. Records of your purchase are
retained by Apple / Google / RevenueCat as required for refunds and restore —
we hold no payment information ourselves.
Children
AfterFeel is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly
collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date
above. Meaningful changes will be highlighted in the app.
